Praxair Begins Operations at New Air Separation Plants

Industrial gas firm Praxair Inc. recently commenced operations at its two new air separation facilities in China, the Danbury, CT-based firm announced in a press release Monday. Supplying the China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC), the new plants each have capacities totaling 2400 tn/day.

The two plants were constructed in the Huizhou Daya Bay Chemical Industrial Park in Huizhou, China. With the opening of the new facilities, Praxair now has a production complex capable of producing 5600 tn/day.

“This project not only expands our relationship with CNOOC, but also enables us to build density and increase supply reliability to all of our valued customers in the park and throughout southern China,” the president of Praxair China, Will Li, said in a statement. “Praxair is driving further profitable growth through disciplined investment in select projects such as this one, and we look forward to building on our momentum in the region.”

CNOOC will use oxygen and nitrogen supplied from the new Praxair plants for its downstream chemical production activities and as part of its refinery expansion efforts.
