Food processing technologies and systems manufacturer Provisur Technologies Inc. announced the acquisition of Dutch separation equipment maker AMFE B.V. and BFD Corporation, a Colorado-based provider of AMFE equipment sales and aftermarket support in North America.

AMFE’s press-type equipment is mainly oriented toward beef and pork separation applications. The company’s Bone Cannon product helps remove high-quality meat remaining on beef and pork bones following secondary processing.

Provisur said it will combine BFD and AMFE’s activities into its Separation Business Unit, set to be led by Provisur vice president Olivier Kerdiles.

“These acquisitions expand Provisur’s lineup of separation equipment which includes Beehive and AM2C rotary separators,” said Kerdiles in a statement.

The founder and former owner of BFD, John Shook, will remain involved with the company’s activities in North America and help expand distribution of the Bone Cannon system globally.

“The Bone Cannon is an important addition to our separation portfolio as it extends our capabilities beyond poultry and fish to beef and pork applications,” said a statement by Mel Cohen, Provisur’s chief executive officer. “These important acquisitions are consistent with Provisur’s long range strategic plan and will help fuel our economy’s continued global growth.”
