Custom Lump Breaker for Pharmaceuticals

Ajax Equipment has developed a custom powder sifter for pharmaceutical applications. The rotary lump breaker unit is comprised of a screw feeder with sifting screens and collecting conveyor, providing a gentle lump breaking action on pharmaceutical powders.

Powder agglomerates, taken from a filter dryer for example, enter the highly polished sifter from a feeding screw, where a rotating paddle forces the powder through the sifter grille and into a collecting conveyor. The sealed unit provides an effective sifting action and controlled feed for powders.

Constructed from Hastelloy, and mounted on a portable frame, the powder sifter is made to hygienic processing standards. The drives for the lump breaker and screw feeder, and screw conveyor are mounted externally, and FDA-compliant seals are used throughout. All contact surfaces are mirror polished to provide a highly reflective surface. The powder sifter is designed for clean-in-place (CIP) with access nozzles situated throughout the unit.
