The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is presenting a one-day seminar on pneumatic conveying for bulk material handling facilities in London on Nov. 29. The organization said it is the only event in the UK that addresses engineering challenges for the pneumatic conveying community.

“This is an unmissable event that will bring together end-users and suppliers to discuss new developments, present the latest research and share best practice. Attendees will benefit from the case studies presented by leading users from across a variety of industry sectors,” the organization said in a brochure announcing the event.

Participants will hear presentations on material feeding, carrying, and discharge methods in pneumatic conveying, as well as plant safety, reliability, operation, and upgrades. The presenters will use case studies to highlight best practices and will outline technology’s role in improving operations.

Some highlights of the forthcoming seminar are:
- Understand the challenges facing RWE Power Generation in the pneumatic conveying of biomass
- Hear directly from the British Compressed Air Society about how the Eco-Design Directive is affecting industry
- Learn from industry leaders Schenck Process UK about how to address challenges in dense phase conveying and Industry 4.0 technologies
- Learn from the Wolfson Centre and the Centre for Industrial Bulk Solids Handling on the latest research into pneumatic conveying methods and modeling.

The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at One Birdcage Walk in London. For more information, visit www.imeche.org/pneumaticconveying2016
