Ceramic-Coated Elbow 10284
November 16, 2017
The SilverBack elbow has a 5/8-in.-thick ceramic coating applied to its exterior. After the core elbow wears through, the abrasion is transferred to the ceramic compound. Steel sits at around 5.7 on the Mohs hardness scale, while the ceramic compound is in the neighborhood of 9.2, extending the life of the bend exponentially. Flanges can be welded onto the ends of the bends, or the ceramic can be left short of the end in order to allow couplings to slip on. Customers can send SilverBack their own elbows to coat, or, the entire ceramic bend can be purchased. It is best used with particle sizes less than 3/8 in. in size. If larger particle conveying is used, the company also manufactures a ceramic “tile” back elbow with ½-in” ceramic tiles also applied to the exterior of the elbow. A steel cavity encloses the tile onto the back of the bend. In addition to ceramic coating, SilverBack Productsoffers quality welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum pneumatic conveying parts.
