Dozens of workers at Ferring Pharmaceuticals in Roseville, MN, will be laid off next year, reported local news KSTP 5.

According to a WARN letter sent to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's Rapid Response Team by the pharma company, about 55 employees will be permanently laid off starting Feb. 5, 2024.

The letter adds the employees aren’t union represented.

A cause for the layoffs wasn’t immediately provided.

In March of this year, Ferring's R&D Centre in San Diego, CA, closed, cutting 89 jobs. The facility had been operational for 27 years.

This isn't the only biopharma company to see layoffs. BioPharma Dive reported that at least 12 biotech companies have announced layoffs in the fourth quarter. About 30 did in both the second quarter and the third, while 59 drugmakers cut their workforces during the first three months of 2023.

Ferring Pharmaceuticals is aprivately-owned, biopharma company with US headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. The global headquarters are in Sweden, with production also in Argentina, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, Switzerland, and UK. The company also operates research and development centers in Israel and Copenhagen, Denmark.
