Three-Part Online Agglomeration Training Series Announced

Offered by The Center for Professional Advancement (CfPA), this training series is intended for professionals in fields such as pharmaceuticals, specialty chemical processing, mineral operations, food processing, animal feeds, fertilizers, candies, cement, and biochemical.

Engineers and scientists who are employed in these industries and who are involved with agglomeration would benefit from this course. The novice will be quickly brought "up to speed" and the expert will be exposed to a detailed review of the subjects.

Agglomeration I: A Practical Approach to Particle Size Enlargement

Agglomeration and size enlargement are important processes used in many areas involving solids processing, fines processing and handling, solids transport, storage, and feeding. Applications of agglomeration and size enlargement are important factors to many facets in industry.

Agglomeration III: Press & Pressure Agglomeration Basics
February 9, 2011, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (EST)

A clear overview of the principles and equipment used in press and pressure agglomeration will be given with discussions on the machines used for press and pressure agglomeration, the processes involved in roll press operations, and details on briquetting, extrusion, and pelleting techniques.

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
* Explain the basic concepts and theory of press & pressure agglomeration
* Describe press & pressure agglomeration terms such as compaction, die pressing, reciprocating machines, rotary machines, die design, lubricants
* Explain the mechanisms of roll presses and double roll presses including feeding, densification, gap characteristics
* Provide a review of briquetting machines, extrusion and pelleting machines, and their operation
