u12cd_148591.jpgHigh-Speed Bag Turner
Heavy feed bagged products are oriented gently, positively, and almost 30% faster than previously possible by a high-speed pop-up repositioner for bag palletizers. This device turns bags 90, 180, or 270º, depending on the desired pattern, allowing manufacturers to position the product so that the bottom (butt) of the bag or the printed panel will face out when palletized. The turner is operated by the intelligent control system of the palletizer, programmed for each pallet configuration. When bag orientation is required, the bag is conveyed into position above the turner, and the turner moves vertically to lift the bag from below, supporting the entire weight of the bag as it is positioned. This efficient action maintains the bag’s shape for efficient palletizing. If product orientation is not required, the repositioner retracts below the roller conveyor, and bags are smoothly transported above the turner for palletizing.A-B-C Packaging Machine Corp., Tarpon Springs, FL  800-237-5975  www.abcpackaging.com

u1331_148599.jpgFree-Standing Drum Bag
In response to the rising cost of fiber drums, AmeriGlobe created the low-cost FreeStanding drum bag. This mini-FIBC stands without support during filling. This package can be handled using a pallet or it can be lifted from above using lift loops. Optional side loops are available that allow the bag to be handled manually. Unlike fiber drums, FreeStanding drum bags can be emptied from both the top and the bottom. Like all FIBCs, empty drum bags take up a minimum of space. Hundreds of empty drum bags fit onto one pallet, reducing the space that drum users need to reserve for empty packaging. A typically shipment of empty drums requires an entire truck and consists of 520 drums. This same delivery requires only two pallets of FreeStanding drum bags. They can be made to match any size fiber drum and customized to meet your specific needs. AmeriGlobe LLC, Lafayette, LA 866-264-5623  www.ameriglobe-fibc.com

u135b_148600.jpgDe-Watering Super Sack Container
In response to repeated requests for an FIBC that would allow liquids to drain from a mixture of liquids and solids, this DeWatering bulk bag, produced using a special, proprietary porous polypropylene fabric with warp and weft tensile strengths greater than those of 8-oz PP fabric, was developed. The special drainage fabric has an airflow equaling 230 cu ft/min and a UV treatment that provides 90% tensile strength retention after 1000 hours of exposure. The bag’s heavy-duty construction has a weight limit of 3000 lb with a 5:1 safety factor. As pictured, the 35x35x48 in. high size will round to a 45-in. diameter when filled and contain 40 cu ft of product. Six thousand-lb tensile strength webbing is used for the 10-in. lift loops. u1351_148604.jpgBulk Bag Filler System
Receiving input material from an integrated bulk bag unloader, an integrated bag dump station, and a vibratory conveyor system, this bulk bag filler system enabled the material processing operation to effectively transition to an automated, 20,000 lb/hr bulk bag filling process from a relatively low-capacity, operator-intensive, 50-lb-bag filling system. Multiple materials, all with differing characteristics, including fast-flowing, dusty, sticky, and static-charged, enter the process operation based on the specific recipe selected at the system HMI by the operator. The bulk bag unloader, receiving bulk bags of severely agglomerated material, starts an integrated, automated material conditioning sequence, including massage paddles with 2200 lb of paddle pressure and an agitator hopper to prepare the material for supply, via screw conveyor, to the bulk bag filler. For secondary ingredients, a bag dump station, integrated to the bulk bag unloader, enables manual introduction of material to the agitator hopper for conditioning, blending, and supply to the bulk bag filler. The primary ingredient, supplied from downstream pneumatic conveying, is introduced to the bulk bag filling process through a 24-in.-wide, 304-2b stainless steel, vibratory conveyor with a total material supply capacity of 20,000 lb/hr.National Bulk Equipment Inc., Holland, MI 616-399-2220 www.nbe-inc.com
