Renewable energy and value-added soybean products firm Epitome Energy announced that Fagen Inc. was selected as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for its planned 42-million-bu soybean crush facility in Crookston, MN. The asset will be part of a new $300 million processing plant at the location.

“This is a significant step forward for us and Fagen Inc. was the clear choice when we looked at different contractors for the project,” Epitome Energy’s CEO and president, Dennis Egan, said in a release. “Fagen’s vast experience, quality workmanship, and commitment to safety were key factors in making this important decision. We are excited to see progress continue.”

The company said a later expansion may include a Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized (RBD) oil refining operation. A study conducted by the University of Minnesota Extension Office estimated Epitome Energy’s plant will create more than $300 million in economic activity across an 11-county region of northwestern Minnesota.

“We pride ourselves in being the leader in renewable fuels construction, and we share Epitome Energy’s goal of providing facilities that benefit our nation’s farmers and add value to the regional economy,” said Fagan Inc. CEO Aaron Fagan in a statement. “Fagan Inc. has over 30 years of experience in this industry, and we are proud to put our expertise to work right here at home in Minnesota.”
