An agreement was signed between Bunge Southern Cone and Argentinian edible oils producer Aceitera Martinez S.A.to transfer the assets of edible oils producer Aceitera to Bunge, the company announced in a April 21 press release.

“This acquisition allows us to strengthen our value-added position in the agrifood chain and ratifies Bunge’s deep commitment to national production,” Enrique Humanes, chief executive officer of Bunge Southern Cone said in a statement. “In the coming years, our commitment will be to meet the demand for higher value-added products, expand our portfolio and generate a more appropriate asset allocation, all of which responds to Bunge’s strategic vision of our Food & Ingredients business”

Included in the transaction is a production plant in San Jeronimo Sud near a Bunge refining center with three packaging lines and a monthly capacity of 20,000 tn.

Aceitera Martinez produces a variety of edible oils including sunflower and soybean oil.
