An engineer from the United Kingdom was crushed to death by aggregate after falling into a mixer Tuesday morning at a cement plant in Trinidad, the Trinidad Daily Express reported.

John Morris, a 55-year-old worker at Lutchmeesingh's asphalt plant in Princes Town, was trying to loosen aggregate in a cistern with a rod at about 10:30 a.m. and fell in, becoming covered with aggregate, local police told the Daily Express. Plant employees extracted the man, who was later pronounced dead at Princes Town Health Facility.

Officials from the Princes Town Police Station and Southern Division Task Force visited the facility on Tuesday to interview the management and workers, the newspaper said.

Police said the man lived in Princes Town on Mathilda Road, the location of the concrete company’s head office.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on the worker’s body on Wednesday at the Forensic Sciences Center in St. James, the Daily Express reported.
