SME Conference to Showcase Industry Advances and Innovations

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration 2023 Arizona Conference is taking place December 3-4 in Tuscon. The Conference will platform advances, innovation, and growth in the mining industry of the Southwest US and Mexico.

The conference program covers the latest developments in regional mining and technical innovations in the areas of mining, geology, metallurgy, environment, and new projects. Special highlights include a Keynote Session featuring Michael Henderson, director of the Tailings Center at the Colorado School of Mines. The conference luncheon will include an address regarding sustainability in the primary copper industry from Krishna Parameswaran, consultant.

The Agenda includes:

  • Workshop: Controlling Acid Mist Pollution for Copper Electrowinning Facilities   

  • Workshop: Cultivating Trust: Building Bridges Through Psychological Safety    

  • Session: Mining - Geotechnical

  • Session: Mineral Processing

Conference attendees will also network and engage during exciting events such as the University of Arizona SME Student Chapter 28th Annual Diggers and Duffers Golf Tournament. Proceeds from this event are used to provide meaningful professional and educational opportunities to the next generation of mining.

Additionally, the conference will cohost the Mining and Minerals Education Foundation’s 41st American Mining Hall of Fame Awards Banquet & Fundraiser. Other events and networking functions are also planned.
