Explosion at Metals Plant Leaves 2 Workers Injured

Two workers were injured in an explosion and fire Thursday at the Selmet specialty metals plant in Albany, OR, according to a report by the Lebanon Express.
The blaze was reported at the Seven Mile Lane site at 7:53 a.m., drawing a response from over 30 emergency personnel, the newspaper said. An ambulance transported the two injured people to an area hospital.
Selmet is a manufacturer of titanium castings and machined parts for the aerospace industry, information on the company’s website states. The company has provided parts for the Boeing 737, Airbus A320, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and other projects.
