Crews Put Down Dust Collector Fire at Wisc. Metal Shop

Fire crews responded to a blaze at a Fond du Lac, WI metal shop last Friday after a fire official passing by the facility saw smoke coming from the site and called in. Upon arrival at the Nemesis Metals building, crews determined that a dust collector at the site was ablaze.

Chief Peter O’ Leary of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue observed smoke pouring out of a ventilation system at the facility at about 10 a.m, according to coverage by the Fond du Lac Reporter. Several other media accountsattribute the fire’s discovery to Fond du Lac Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase.

Flames were contained to the area that contained the dust collector, fire officials said. Chief O’Leary said workers evacuated the facility after he called in the fire, the Reportersaid.

Workers reentered the Nemesis Metals shop after the fire was brought down, local news radio station KFIZ reported. No injuries were documented during the incident.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Nemesis Metals, established in 2006, offers metal fabrication and laser artwork services.
