690 Pounds of Jerky Recalled Due to Metal Contamination

690 lbs. of beef jerky are being recalled by Junior’s Smokehouse Processing Plant in El Campo, TX after a customer found pieces of metal in a package of the firm’s teriyaki beef jerky products on Sept. 17, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Friday.

The 4 oz. plastic pouches of Junior’s Smokehouse’s ready-to-eat BUC-EE’S Country Brand Teriyaki Beef Jerky have a “best by” date of Aug. 9, 2018 and a lot code of 220-272. Impacted products will have the USDA establishment number EST. 48213 inside of the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging.

BUC-EE’s jerky products subject to recall were shipped to retail stores in Texas. No adverse reactions related to the possibly tainted jerky have been reported yet, according to the USDA. The agency said those in possession of the impacted products should throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased at.
