Volkmann Inc. and Powder Technologies Inc. Open New Test Facility

Volkmann Inc., the newly formed U.S. subsidiary of Volkmann Gmbh, has opened a new test facility in Hainesport, New Jersey.

Building on its 30 years of experience in the design and manufacture of high-quality vacuum pneumatic conveyors in Europe, the company has opened a new facility to directly service the North American market. In combination with Powder Technologies Inc., also of Hainesport, the two companies have established a combined test facility with the ability to convey, screen, size reduce, feed, mix, and introduce solids into liquid or paste solutions.

The equipment available for testing includes Volkmann VS and PPC vacuum conveyors, the latest developments of the successful range of pneumatic conveying receivers. These all stainless steel units feature contact parts, common seals throughout, external non-product contact valve actuators, and require no tools for disassembly and cleaning. They are available in sizes from 170 through 560 mm diameter with throughputs up to 6000 kg/hr. Lightweight and modular in design, the VS range can be adapted to almost every application from simple up and in to more complex distribution systems.

The new PPC range has been specifically designed with the pharmaceutical market in mind. Designed to cGMP standards the units are AISI 316L as standard, feature a one-piece separator finished to Ra < 0.8µ, are crevice free, and include a sanitary quick release (no tools required). Filters are long lasting, quick change, using sintered HD-PE, PTFE-coated cartridges or HEPA filters.

Also available for test or combined use is the PTI range of Gericke nibblers, centrifugal sifters, continuous mixers and bulk bag handling equipment. Additionally, a fully equipped range of Ystral mixers has been included in phase one of the facility. By combining equipment, both Volkmann and PTI are able to more closely replicate the clients’ production facility.
