Monthly Conveying Equipment Orders Drop 49%

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its July 2023 booked orders decreased by 7.67% when compared to July 2022 and by 49.12% compared to June 2023. June 2023 booked orders had increased 39.1% compared to May 2023.

July 2023 booked orders for bulk handling equipment decreased 18.28% compared to June 2023. July 2023 booked orders for unit handling equipment decreased 57.44% when compared to June 2023.

CEMA’s July 2023 billed sales (shipments) decreased by 21.37% compared to July 2022 and 21.23% compared to June 2023. This contrasts with the June 2023 increase of 7.11% when compared to May 2023.

July 2023 billed sales for bulk handling equipment decreased 15.23% when compared to June 2023. The bulk handling decrease follows a 3.38% increase for June 2023 vs. May 2023. July 2023 billed sales for unit handling equipment decreased 23.21% when compared to Jun 2023. The billed sales for unit handling’s decrease compares to an increase of 8.39% for the prior month (June 2023) vs. May 2023.
