Conveying Equipment Orders Rise 36% in May

Increase follows 46% decreas from March to April

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its May 2022 booked orders decreased by 4.24% when compared to May 2021, but increased by 36.68% compared to April 2022 booked orders.

April 2022 booked orders had decreased 46.02% compared to March 2022.

May 2022 booked orders for Bulk Handling Equipment decreased 9.56% compared to April 2022, while May 2022 booked orders for Unit Handling Equipment increased 75.12% when compared to April 2022.

CEMA’s May 2022 billed sales (shipments) decreased by 15.24% compared to May 2021, and decreased 4.87% compared to April 2022. This contrasts with the April 2022 decrease of 22.67% when compared to March 2022.

May 2022 billed sales for Bulk Handling Equipment increased 3.36% when compared to April 2022. The Bulk Handling decrease follows a 13.14% decrease for April 2022 vs. March 2022. May 2022 billed sales for Unit Handling Equipment decreased 6.94% when compared to April 2022. The billed sales for Unit Handling’s decrease compares to a decrease of 24.74% for April 2022 vs. March 2022.
