CEMA Releases Semi-Annual Stats on Conveyor Market

Sales and shipments were both up and down in different sectors.

CEMA shares stats on semi-annual conveying industry

Overall conveying equipment bookings for January through June 2023 increased 1.0% compared to the same period in 2022, with total orders of $9.4 billion, estimates The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association Inc. (CEMA).

Shipments in January through June 2023 decreased 0.5% compared to the same period in 2022, with total shipments of $9.8 billion, the organization revealed,

CEMA estimates industry Unit Handling orders were up 5.0% in January through June 2023, while Unit Handling shipments decreased 9.1% compared to the same period in 2022.

In the Bulk Conveying sector, CEMA estimates orders were down 3.0 % and shipments were up 14.6 % compared to the same period in 2022.

CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in nine classes of Unit Handling equipment and four classes of Bulk Handling equipment.  

Johnny Wheat, president of CEMA, announced the results at the Association’s 2023 Fall Meeting held September 19-20 at Hilton O’Hare in Chicago, IL.

At the 2023 Fall Meeting, executives of CEMA member companies in attendance expressed optimism for the year ahead. As a result, CEMA forecasts that industry shipments will be up 5.0% in 2023 over 2022 shipments.
