Grain, food ingredients, and feed ingredients firm The Scoular Company acquired a grain handling facility next to its ingredient and blending facility in Jerome, ID in June from the Northside Development Holding Co., the Omaha, NE-based company announced July 19.

Under the deal, Scoular took possession of the grinding and storage facility and its equipment, 45 acres of connected land, and 18,000 ft of railroad track that connects with the Eastern Idaho Railroad.

The firm said the move is a demonstration of its commitment to local dairies, feeders, and grain producers.

“Scoular has been providing dairies and feeders in the Idaho market with a variety of feed ingredients and grains since the late 1990s,” said Todd Strayer, the director of Scoular’s Western Feed Ingredients business in Jerome, in a statement. “We’ve taken a long-term strategic approach to serve customers in the region. The addition of this facility is complementary to our existing operation. In addition to supplying dairies and feeders with ingredients, we are buying and handling locally-grown corn, barley, and wheat.”

A 12,000 tn ingredient handling and storage facility was opened by the company in Jerome in 2006, which was expanded in 2014 to include a commodity blending facility.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
