Intelligrated Webinar to Highlight Polybag Handling

Intelligrated, a provider of automated material handling solutions, is presenting a webinar on polybag handling this July discussing drivers of packaging changes and strategies for automated systems, the Cincinnati-based company announced Wednesday.

Part of the company’s “On the Move” webinar series, “Goodbye cartons, hello polybags,” is scheduled for 2 pm EDT on July 21.

Presenter Tim Kraus, an Intelligrated product management manager, will explore the shift to direct-to-consumer orders in polybags from corrugate cartons, and the issues these changes are placing on material handling systems, processes, and technologies.

“The explosive growth of e-commerce continues to be a dominant force, with an impact that extends to packaging, as retailers shift to malleable packaging types like polybags to keep shipping costs low,” Jerry Koch, director of corporate marketing and product management at Intelligrated, said in a press release. “These can present handling challenges to automated material handling equipment, and keeping high-throughput operations running effectively starts with understanding those challenges and evaluating equipment and processes.”

The webinar will also the potential to reduce shipping costs with an adoption of polybags, the benefits of polybags’ pliability on material handling systems, and how singlulation compares with bulk handling of polybags in the context of total fulfillment costs.
