Automated material handling solutions provider Intelligrated is expanding its portfolio of sortation equipment with the introduction of its USS vertical conveyor and sortation equipment, tote stacking and destacking solutions, and new buffering and sweeper sorting systems, the Chicago-based company announced Nov. 9.

“Today’s supply chain operations are stretched to reach greater levels of efficiency and productivity, all while being challenged to operate in a shrinking footprint and handle new packaging and products,” said Howard Eisenberg, senior vice president and general manager of USS, a subsidiary of Intelligrated, in a statement. “The USS sortation products offer simple, flexible solutions for effective sortation that meets operational needs, in the most efficient footprint possible.

Designed as modular components, Intelligrated’s new equipment is designed to fit into tight factory spaces and integrate with existing auxiliary systems. Many of the systems are designed to take advantage of unused vertical space in smaller manufacturing facilities, the company said. The products include control and location tracking system to enable monitoring of stacking, destacking, sortation induction and discharge, elevation change, and product diverting applications.

The new USS vertical conveyor and sortation system offers efficient vertical transportation of materials in a variety of configurations that occupy a small footprint. Intelligrated’s new tote stacking and destacking solution provides automated handling of empty or full totes in staging, storage, retrieval, and resequencing which the company said can help increase throughput rates and reduce labor costs. Its new buffering systems provide efficeient staging and sequencing for products in manufacturing or distribution facilities. Its latest sweeper sorter equipment is made for small- to medium-sized materials that are difficult to handle.

Intelligrated is now owned by Honeywell and provides a range of automated material handling solutions.
