Hapman Expands Manufacturing Operations
Hapman expands its manufacturing campus in Kalamazoo, MI.

Hapman, a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of equipment and systems for bulk material handling expands its manufacturing campus in Kalamazoo, MI.

Hapman, a KMC Global Co., is expanding from the company’s current capacity bringing the total manufacturing capacity to 159,000 sq ft. The addition of the new buildings allows Hapman to not only fulfill equipment orders more efficiently, but also allows for expansion of the company’s technology center and controls division.

“More than ever we are supporting our customers across bulk material handling industries to engineer complete material handling systems. This expansion allows us to meet the changing needs of our customers and provide the best possible service and support,” said Greg Patterson, Hapman vice president.

The original plant location, known as Building 1, will house some final assembly, an expanded technology center, shipping, and KMC Global corporate functions. Core manufacturing of the tubular drag chain conveyor, en-masse drag conveyor, bulk bag unloaders and fillers, Helix flexible screw conveyors, and other large-scale system components will be handled in Building 2. The third campus building is currently being renovated for the company’s controls division expansion.

“Our company has always served the unique needs of the industry; we partner with our customers to engineer equipment that will solve their most difficult material handling challenges,” said Ned Thompson, president and CEO. “The expansion of our manufacturing operations allows us to continue to provide best-in-class equipment and customer service.”

The manufacturing campus is located near I-94, a major U.S. east/west interstate providing a cost effective shipping route throughout North America. PRAB, a sister company within the KMC Global family, is also co-located on the campus.

Hapman contracts with sales representatives throughout the world to provide local technical support and service. The company’s European headquarters is located in Opole, Poland, where equipment and systems are designed and manufactured for Europe and surrounding regions. Hapman India is headquartered in Gajarat and serves both India and the Middle East region. Partnerships in China and Brazil allow Hapman to serve processors in each of these regions.
