GEAPS, K-State Offer Grain Handling Courses this Sept.

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University (K-State) Distance Education Program are offering three online grain handling operations courses starting this September, GEAPS announced Monday.

Running from Sept. 12 to Oct. 14, registration for the courses is open to all. Attendees must register prior to Sept. 6.

The courses include:

GEAPS 501: Management Basics for Grain Facility Supervisors

An overview of the main duties, responsibilities, and expectations of grain operations supervisors and managers. The course covers essential duties, topics, and roles supervisors and managers need to understand, and their importance.

GEAPS 524: Grain Drying
The basic principles of grain drying with strategies for improving energy efficiency. Intended for anyone from facility operators to dryer manufacturers and sales staff.

GEAPS 540: Entry Level Safety
Identifying the main risks of working in the industry, discussions on precautions and company and facility safety and health policies.

Tuition for the courses is $850 for non-GEAPS members and $670 for GEAPS members.
