Dust explosions have been and continue to be a risk to facilities that work with powders and bulk solids. This news segment produced by St. Louis-based NBC News affiliate KSDK captures the aftermath of a deadly and destructive grain dust explosion and fire that rocked a Ralston-Purina facility in St. Louis on Jan. 10, 1962. A 12-story grain elevator was heavily damaged, two Ralston-Purina workers were killed, and 22 firefighters and about 36 workers were left with injuries, according to the television news station.
