NAC Carbon Products Plant Damaged in Explosion and Fire
Officials said the blast caused a three-alarm fire to break out inside the carbon facility.
Firefighters were dispatched to the NAC Carbon Products plant in Punxsutawney, PA on Wednesday night after officials received a report of an explosion at the facility, several local news organizations reported.
The blast occurred at about 10:30 p.m., igniting fires in the plant, coverage by The Punxsutawney Spirit said. Officials declared the incident a three-alarm fire during the response.
Crews remained on scene into Thursday morning and allowed some workers to go inside one section of the plant, according to television news station WTAJ.
Reports said the structure was damaged by the explosion and fire, but no damage estimate was included in the accounts.
No injuries were logged during the incident.
NAC Carbon Products is a manufacturer of graphite and carbon products and offers toll carbon extruding, baking and graphitization services, information on the firm’s website states.
