A fire at Henkel Corp., a chemical manufacturing plant near Enoree, SC, sent two employees to the hospital Sunday night, June 23, reported local WSPA 7News.

According to Spartanburg County Dispatch, a call was received around 10:15 p.m. in reference to the fire.

Upon arrival, officials said they saw a transformer well involved on the back side of the building. Crews began assisting with evacuation, securing the power and containing the fire.

Spartanburg County ESA responded with the large fan, recently purchased through the Spartanburg County Fire Advisory Board, to ventilate the large building, the news reported.

The fire took several hours to put out. A spokesperson for Henkel said two employees were treated at the hospital and released following the fire.

Henkel reported that the incident occurred in the hot melt production area.

Plant operations are currently shut down and an assessment of the facility is ongoing.
