Flash Fire Injures 3 Workers at Coke Plant

The workers received burns to their heads, necks, and chests during the flash fire at the ABC Coke facility.

Firefighters responded to the ABC Coke plant in Tarrant, AL last Thursday after a flash fire left three workers with injuries, according to coverage by AL.com.

The blaze occurred at about 8 am and crews arrived on scene at 8:12 am, Tarrant Fire Chief Jason Rickels told the news website. The workers were transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening burns on their heads, necks, and chests.

ABC Coke, a division of Drummond Company Inc., is the biggest merchant producer of foundry coke in the US, according to the company’s website, supplying a range of industries, including sugar, automotive, rockwool insulation, and smelter.
