Crews from nine fire departments responded to a two-alarm blaze at the Dolomite Products aggregate processing plant in LeRoy, NY last Thursday evening.

“Several conveyor belts caught fire and caused secondary fires on the site,” LeRoy Fire Department said in a statement posted to its Facebook page. “Once power was disconnected, the fire was brought under control.”

A second alarm was issued around 7 p.m. to request assistance and additional water tankers, The Batavian reported. Firefighters managed to douse the flames by 7:45 p.m.

Two buildings at Dolomite Products’ Gulf Road site were destroyed during the incident, according to coverage by The Batavia Daily News. A fire official said the majority of the flames were in a building used to crush stone. No injuries were logged.

Dolomite supplies a variety of aggregate products, including crushed stone, sand, and gravel.
