Emergency personnel were dispatched to the Quasar Energy Group biosolid processing plant in Wooster, OH Tuesday morning after an explosion occurred that left three workers with injuries, local news organizations reported.
Responding to the Seacrest Road location at about 10:20 a.m., crews arrived on scene and determined that the fire burned itself out, coverage by The Daily Record detailed. Fire officials told the newspaper that the explosion happened in a dome-shaped digestion unit used to process biosolids like food waste.
Operations at the facility were halted following the blast, News 5 Cleveland said. No cause has been identified.
The three injured workers were reportedly taken to hospitals for treatment.
Quasar Energy Group, based in Cleveland, is a waste management and renewable energy firm that designs, builds, and operates anaerobic digestion systems in North America, information on its website states. The company also produces fertilizer products.
