Waffle and pancake manufacturer U.S. Waffle Company is investing $22.1 million to open a new frozen foods production facility in Liberty, SC, a release by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said Thursday.
The company will relocate their existing manufacturing operations to the new, 310,000-sq-ft facility when it opens in the fourth quarter of 2019. Frozen waffles and pancakes produced at the Liberty site will be shipped to retailers and restaurants.
“The U.S. Waffle Company’s vision for providing customers with the absolute finest quality waffles and pancakes can be seen first-hand by the passion and enthusiasm of the people who work there,” Pickens County Council Chairman Roy Costner said in a statement. “This obsession for excellence makes them a perfect partnership with the folks who call Pickens County home.”
U.S. Waffle’s plant will have a headcount of 350 workers when it is fully operational.
South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development allowed the company to obtain job development credits for the project. Pickens County, where the facility will be located, received a $200,000 Set Aside grant to help cover costs related to the opening of the new plant.
