Snacks Firm Recalls Nuts After Glass Found in Product
SunTree Snack Foods voluntarily recalled several lots of cashews and trail mix products after a consumer discovered glass pieces in a product.
Private label snacks manufacturer SunTree Snack Foods LLC initiated a voluntary recall of several lots of cashew nuts and trail mix products after the company was notified that a consumer found glass pieces in a product.
Products involved in the recall are sold under the Harris Teeter, HEB, Happy Belly, and Price & Spring brands. 11 lot codes of cashew halves and pieces and three lot codes of trail mix products are potentially contaminated with glass.
“No injuries have been reported to date. Although our investigation is ongoing, we believe the source of the glass is cashews that were an ingredient common to the products subject to this recall,” the company said in a notice posted September 24 to the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website. “SunTree Snack Foods LLC is taking this action out of an abundance of caution.”
The products were distributed to retail stores in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Based in Phoenix, AZ, SunTree produces dried fruit, nuts and mixes and seeds.
