Consumer packaged goods holding firm Post Holdings entered into a new partnership to expand distribution of Hungry Planet Inc.’s plant-based meat products, the St. Louis-based company announced in a release Monday.
“Demand for plant-based meats is growing. We are excited to announce this partnership with Hungry Planet and to continue to offer more innovative product options to our customers,” said Mark Westphal, who serves as president of Michael Foods, a Post subsidiary, in a statement.
Post’s Foodservice and Refrigerated Foods business units will distribute the Hungry Planet products. The faux meat supplier’s products are found across the US in foodservice, grocery stores, ecommerce and restaurants.
“Our products make it easy to swap plant-based meat in for conventional meat in any cuisine, with any flavor and across all proteins without compromise,” Hungry Planet Co-Founder and CEO Todd Boyman said in the release. “This new partnership will accelerate delivery of our products to more points of distribution and to help keep pace with demand and reach millions more consumers.”
Hungry Planet offers plant-based pork, chicken, beef, crab, chorizo and Italian sausage.
The global market for plant-based meat is expected to hit a value of $35.4 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 15.8% over the next six years, according to a recent forecast by Polaris Market Research.
