Agricultural commodities handler and marketer The Scoular Co. launched its new “Emerging Businesses” division to focus on new investment opportunities in growing markets like biofuels, renewable energy, carbon, and agricultural technology, a company release announced this month,

“Scoular employees have always explored possibilities across the agricultural supply chain, imaginatively creating solutions for our customers,” the firm’s CEO Paul Maass said in a statement. “As the industry evolves at a rapid pace, we will continue to seize opportunities that position Scoular for long-term success.”

Senior Vice President Ed Prosser was named to lead the new division, which will also include Roger LLC, a technology solution or the dry bulk freight industry, and other future growth ventures.

“Scoular can more strategically capture emerging opportunities when these business activities are aligned within the same division, which can support their unique capital, technology, and talent needs,” said Prosser, who previously occupied the roles of Senior Vice President of Risk Management and Interim Chief Information Officer at Scoular prior to the appointment.

The company also announced several promotions to its Senior Leadership Team. Joe Andrus was named Senior Vice President and Feed Division Manager. Ron Bingham received a promotion to Senior Vice President and Grain Division Manager. Amy Patterson will assume the role of President of Petsource, a Scoular subsidiary.

“I am thrilled to promote Joe, Ron, and Amy to our senior executive team, and to see Scoular’s robust talent management and development practices at work as we elevate these outstanding leaders,” Maass said. “I am confident that under their leadership Scoular will continue to define what is possible for our customers and achieve growth well into the future.”
