Part of a concrete storage bin collapsed Tuesday morning at the Landus Cooperative grain elevator in Yetter, IA, the company announced in a release following the incident.

“As a result of the structural failure to the northwest-facing bin at the Yetter grain elevator, a large portion of the concrete wall fell to the ground while a train was being loaded on site around 4:30 a.m.,” the company wrote. “No one was injured. There was no fire risk, and no first responders were needed.”

A CN Rail line near the facility was briefly blocked by concrete debris and corn. The company said railcars and the rail track were not damaged.

“Only one of three grain receiving pits was impacted by the damage to this bin. The Yetter team is preparing the site to be ready to receive customer grain again tomorrow morning, and the site will be deemed safe for customer traffic,” Landus stated.

A company spokesperson told the Fort Dodge Messenger that Landus will examine opportunities for reinvestment in the site.
