Hormel company Skippy Foods issued a voluntary recall for 161,692 lb of peanut butter based on the possibly that a “limited number of jars” could be contaminated with stainless steel fragments from production equipment.

“Skippy Foods LLC, out of an abundance of caution and with an emphasis on the quality of its products, is issuing the recall to ensure that consumers are made aware of the issue,” Hormel wrote in a release posted to its website on March 30. “The manufacturing facility’s internal detection systems identified the concern.”

8,353 cases of Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, Skippy Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread, and Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter Blended with Plant Protein are involved in the recall.

Those in possession of the impacted products are urged to return them to the place of purchase or contact the company at PeanutButter.com.
