Gluten free baked goods manufacturer Dr. Schär USA started work on a 42,000-sq-ft expansion of its manufacturing plant in Logan Township, NJ on September 10, a company release announced. The project aims to help the company meet increased demand for its products.

“As we have expanded the US business over the past nine years, we have surpassed the manufacturing capabilities of our current manufacturing facility,” said Margot Gunther, marketing director of Dr. Schär USA, in a statement. “This plant expansion is critical for continuing to grow our operations in the US and offer better quality and service to our customers.”

Dr. Schär USA’s Logan Township location is focused on the production of rolls and sliced breads for the North American market. The company’s portfolio includes a range of gluten free products, including croissants, puff pastry dough, and crackers, for consumers who are Celiac, Gluten Sensitive, or have IBS.

Work on the site is slated to reach completion in 2022.

The market for gluten free bakery projects is projected to grow at a CAGR of 11.24% between 2019 and 2024, according to business insights firm Mordor Intelligence. North America is expected to be the largest market during the period.
