American food firm General Mills is preparing to launch a $28 million project at its Sharonville, OH production plant to upgrade equipment and expand the size of the facility, REDI Cincinnati announced in a recent release.

“At General Mills, we’re accelerating our business and investing meaningfully in our people, brands, and capabilities to make food the world loves,” Jay Simpson, Cincinnati plant manager for General Mills, said in a statement. “We are proud to channel that investment in the great city of Sharonville, home of many of our beloved cereals including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Chex, Fiber One, Cookie Crisp, and Cheerios Oat Crunch.”

The effort is expected to result in the creation of 33 new jobs at the site. Positions will be available in processing, packaging, maintenance, and administrative support.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported in July that General Mills acquired Tyson Foods’ Pet Treats business for $1.2 billion. The transaction includes the Nudges, Top Chews, and True Chews brands of natural meat pet treats, as well as a manufacturing facility in Independence, IA.
