Kraft Heinz Co. announced it's Capri Sun original juice drink pouches now have an average of 40% less sugar,
The company turned to monk fruit concentrate, a natural sweetener, to reduce the amount of sugar.
“Sugar, especially in the beverage category, is a major pain point for parents,” Erica Watkins, associate brand director for Capri Sun, said in a statement. “As a category leader and kids No. 1 favorite juice drink, it was critical that the renovation meet our brand's size and scale without compromising either our iconic taste or our commitment to using all natural ingredients.”
Capri Sun was launched in 1986. The new single servings will have an average of 8g of total sugars and 5g of added sugars. The reduced sugar products will be on store shelves sometime in August.
