Flour milling and ingredient firm Ardent Mills announced Tuesday that its new, 150,000-sq-ft Port Redwing Mill opened in Gibsonton, FL. Capable of producing 1.75 million lb/hr of flour, the company said the new location will help it to boost efficiency and product consistency.

“The ability to deliver safe, consistent products to our customers – day in and day out – serves as our greatest competitive advantage,” Steve Neely, Port Redwing Plant Manager, said in a release. “Harnessing data-powered technology, deeply rooted industry expertise, and people-first practices, Port Redwing realizes our vision to be the trusted partner and meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

Port Redwing supplies all-purpose, whole-wheat, high-gluten, cake, and bread flours. Ardent Mills’ site also features storage capacity of up to 4.1 million bu and rapid line intervention, as well as issue management technology to assess and correct production line issues with minimal downtime.

“This mill is a testament to our commitment to transform how the world is nourished and drive innovation across plant-based ingredients,” Ardent Mills CEO Dan Dye said in a statement.

About $100 million was invested in the project, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Construction on the plant was completed in March 2022.
