Explosion at Dow Chemical Plant

A vessel ruptured at the Dow chemical plant in Plaquemine, LA causing an explosion Sunday morning. No one was injured and it was reported that there was no public threat.

 

Dow Louisiana Operations posted this on its Facebook page: "There is no ongoing emergency at the site. The site is stable and we are in recovery mode at our Glycol 2 unit. The rest of our production units continue to run safely and reliably. 

 

"Thanks to the men and women of Glycol 2, our Emergency Site Services and our fire brigade members who responded quickly and safely to the event.

 

"All employees and contract employees are to report to work as normal. Come as you do everyday, with your commitment to the environment, everyone’s safety and health."
