6 Killed, 500 Hospitalized After Chemical Plant Explosion

Six people died and at least 500 were hospitalized after an explosion at a chemical plant in Visakhapatnam, the largest and most populous city of the Andhra Pradesh district of India Thursday.

Officials sid the explosion was caused by a gas leak at the LG polymers plant. Many of those hospitalized experienced a burning sensation in their eyes, nausea, and have fallen unconscious. Two of the fatalities were children. 

An investigation was underway.
