20 Killed in Chemical Factory Explosion

Twenty people died and at least 70 people were injured after an explosion at a chemcial plant in the Vaghadi village of Dhule, Maharashtra, India on Saturday, August 31.

 

Reports said that roughly 100 workers were in the Rumit Chemsynth Pvt Ltd facility when the blast occurred shortly after 9am. 

 

The plant manufactures a chemical used for making pharmaceuticals. An officer said nitrogen gas cylinders and barrels containing chemicals in the factory increased the severity of the blasts, which could be felt for more than three miles.
