Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems recently hosted an in-house laboratory equipment demonstration for prospective customers at its Summit, NJ production and testing facility. The program was designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the universal Mikro pulverizer, micron air jet sieve, and the new powder characteristics tester.

The laboratory equipment sales department sponsored the event giving customers the opportunity to observe some of Hosokawa’s most popular laboratory devices in operation. The presenter, Tim Calvo, laboratory equipment product manager, was pleased with the outcome and is continuing to work with some guests on their laboratory equipment needs.

“Hosting an event like this was the prefect opportunity to demonstrate how accurate and simple these devices can be,” Calvo said. “We provide hundreds of these devices to customers around the world every year. Customers can unquestionably benefit from using these devices to produce, analyze and characterize both their raw materials and finished products.”

The event was attended by nearly 70 guests from as far as California and Florida with many coming from the New York Metro area. The day’s events included classroom instructions and discussions, a milling demonstration and complete sample particle size analysis and material flow characterization. The program also invited guests to bring their own samples for free particle size and flowability analysis.

The Mikro universal pulverizer is a versatile laboratory mill available with a variety of grinding media and control options capable of coarse to fine grinds to approximately 45 microns. The micron air jet sieve is an accurate particle size analyzer available for measuring particles down to 20 microns. The model PT-X micron powder characteristics tester was recently redesigned to identify 12 characteristics of flowability and floodability of dry powders.

Due to the success of the event, Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems plans to announce similar demonstrations on other product lines for early 2012.
