Automated Material Handling System
Designed specifically for fully automated handling and processing of highly abrasive, non free-flowing metal flake material, this self-contained bulk material handling system ensures reliable, repeatable material supply to integrated feeders that meter material for introduction to an inline briquetter. Processed briquettes are conveyed downstream for reclamation. Material supply hoppers with live-bottom, variable frequency drive discharge-metering conveyors transfer material to inclined, cleated, belt conveyors. Downstream sensors monitor material supply requirements and automatically call to discharge-metering conveyors for material as process rates dictate. Integrated material feeders receive and prepare material for metered discharge to the briquetter. NBE Integrated automation centralizes all drive controlling, material feed sensing, material routing, and control layer monitoring and reporting to a single, UL-listed HMI, designed and built by NBE. Custom-Engineered Transfer ChutesThese custom-engineered transfer chutes help to deliver material control from the time it leaves the conveyor discharge pulley until it reaches the receiving belt. By managing the material speed and direction, Inertial Flow transfer chutes can minimize impact and wear on liners and belts, while containing the dust and spillage that are often generated at transfer points. The engineered flow chutes employ special geometries that capture and concentrate the material stream as it travels through the chute. Every design is tailored to suit the specific material characteristics and conveyor systems of the individual customer, rather than using stock products and attempting to make them work. The cutes provide the dual benefits of minimizing aeration and preventing buildup within the chute, particularly important when dealing with combustible materials. Sanitary Screw Discharge Ribbon Blender
The 42NSD ribbon blender features a discharge screw positioned across the entire bottom of the trough and powered by a separate direct drive system for independent speed control. The discharge screw assembly is designed with close tolerances between the screw and the trough. The screw runs forward only during the discharge cycle and in reverse during the blending cycle. This helps to eliminate dead zones and enhance mixing. The 10-cu-ft unit shown included all stainless steel type 316 construction, a 150-grit finish on all surfaces, a dust-tight, two-piece cover with clamps, liquid spray nozzles, a 3-in.-diam discharge screw, load cells, and a NEMA 12 stainless steel control panel. Advantages of this design include: the ability to discharge continuously at variable rates to match downstream packaging operations; a removable screw for cleaning purposes; less dead space, thus more thorough blending; complete discharge. Jet SieveThe MLS 200 jet sieve is available for small volumes and test applications. The unit uses standard 8-in. sieves, prevents inaccurate results due to screen blinding, and dedusts statically bound fines. The sieve is used for all dry materials from 20 to 1000 micron and is ideal for electrostatic materials and on products that are predisposed to blinding. Continuous Blenders
This expanded line of CB1 blenders is available for continuous blending of two or more powders, pellets, or flakes. Available in five models, with feed rates from 150 to 2500 cu ft/hr, the blenders feature a mixing blade design that proportionally blends and mixes different types and varying densities of dry bulk materials fed from volumetric feeders at a rate equal to the total rates metered by the feeders. The rugged units are constructed in a choice of high-quality carbon steel, carbon steel with special coatings, 304 or 316 stainless steel, or other specified materials. The blenders also feature a standard A/C constant speed drive, while other drives are available on request. Metalfab Inc., Vernon, NJ 800-764-2999 www.metalfabinc.com
