Personal care products manufacturer Kimberly-Clark is preparing to open a new commercial center in Chicago’s Fulton Market area to support the operations of its North American consumer products business, the company announced with local and state officials in a release Wednesday.

About 250 sales, marketing, executive management, and other commercial staff will work at the location when it opens in spring 2022.

“Chicago provides us with the opportunity to grow Kimberly-Clark’s business and will position us closer to our outstanding retail partners, marketing and digital agencies, and other service providers who already call Chicago home,” Kurt Laufer, president, US Consumer Sales for Kimberly-Clark, said in a statement. “We thank Gov. [JB] Pritzker and Mayor [Lori] Lightfoot fir their continued support during this process.”

The company qualifies for the state’s EDGE incentive program that provides support to firms making large-scale capital investments. Kimberly-Clark and Illinois officials are working to finalize an agreement to ensure that long-term investment is paired with job creation.

“Kimberly-Clark’s iconic brands are essential to millions of people in Illinois and across North America, and we’re proud that talented individuals from our state will play a role in producing these essential products for generations to come,” said Gov. Pritzker in the release.
