Evonik to Acquire Cosmetic Delivery Firm Infinitec Activos
The Spanish company produces novel active delivery systems for cosmetic active ingredients.
German specialty chemicals and materials firm Evonik has entered into an agreement to purchase Spain-based Infinitec Activos, a developer and manufacturer of novel active delivery systems for cosmetic active ingredient applications.
“Proven active delivery systems offer great opportunities to innovate new cosmetic ingredients with scientifically proven claims,” said Yann de Havré, the leader of Evonik’s Care Solutions business line, in a statement.
Infinitec Activos will be rolled into Evonik’s Care Solutions business line of its Nutrition & Care division once the transaction closes. Its portfolio includes seven delivery systems and natural-based active ingredients. Evonik said Infinitec Activos’ products have “strong synergy potential” with its existing cosmetic solutions platform.
“We are convinced that the synergies created will not only bring benefits to our customers and both companies, but also create new opportunities across the entire personal care and beauty market value chain,” Alfonso Hildago, a partner of Infinitec Activos S.L., said in a release.
47 workers at Infinitec Activos’ head office in Barcelona, Spain, its manufacturing plant in Montornés del Vallès, Spain, and its natural-based raw material producer Naturethic will join Evonik.
The acquisition is part of the company’s efforts to shift the focus of its Nutrition & Care division to system solutions.
Powder & Bulk Solids reported in March that Evonik announced the completion of an expansion project at its Mobile, AL production plant to increase the site’s capacity for sodium methylate to 90,000 mt/yr. The company initiated the expansion in response to increasing use of biodiesel and the EPA’s definitions for decarbonization. Additional capacity at the Mobile plant will also support the performance chemicals and life science markets.
