Specialty vanadium chemicals manufacturer US Vanadium (USV) said Wednesday that it purchased a materials processing plant in Benton, AR that will allow the firm to expand production. The former Saint-Gobain facility is located 30 miles from the company’s flagship plant in Hot Springs, AR.
The facility will grind and roast vanadium feedstock sourced from post-industrial waste streams for chemical processing into a range of vanadium-based products.
“This strategic acquisition gives US Vanadium greater flexibility and processing capacity for the various sources of vanadium feedstock that we utilize,” USV CEO Mark A. Smith said in a company release. “Such vertical integration allows us to ramp up our production of high-purity vanadium more efficiently and at a lower cost. We are pleased to welcome to US Vanadium the outstanding team at the Benton facility, and we look forward to expanding our production across both our Arkansas facilities.”
USV’s portfolio includes high-purity vanadium pentoxide and ultra-high-purity electrolyte for Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries.
