Specialty chemicals manufacturer Lubrizol recently named Chris Brown as its new chief executive officer to replace its outgoing president, CEO and chairman Eric Schnur, industry and community news organizations reported.

Brown’s new role became effective on August 20, Lubrizol spokesperson Alicia Gauer told the Rockford Register Star. No explanation was provided on what prompted the leadership change. The newspaper noted that the shift occurred after two major fires recently occurred at Lubrizol-owned facilities, including the Chemtool blaze in Rockton, IL in June.

Schnur will reportedly remain with the company in an advisory capacity for some time.

The new CEO previously served as president and CEO of BHE Infrastructure Group and president for North American Sales and service operation for Vestas, a provider of wind turbines, according to coverage by ICIS.
