DuPont’s transportation and industrial business DuPont Mobility & Materials (M&M) is committing $5 million to expand its capacity for high-performance automotive adhesives at its manufacturing plants in Germany and Switzerland. The company announced in a release Monday that equipment has been delivered and installed at the sites.

“As we see continued recovery of the global automotive market, we’re closely collaborating with our customers in Europe to deliver innovative advanced mobility solutions to meet their business needs,” Tina Wu, vice president and general manager, Advanced Solutions for DuPont Mobility & Materials, said in a statement. “This investment reinforces our commitment to increase capacity and accelerate growth in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.”

The company said it initiated the expansion in response to an uptick in demand for advanced mobility solutions for vehicle electrification. Its plants in Germany and Switzerland manufacture thermal interface materials, multi-material bonding adhesives, structural adhesives and glass bonding adhesives.

DuPont Mobility & Materials operates manufacturing and R&D sites in North America, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.

Also this week, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that Arkema-owned Bostik entered into a deal to purchase Edge Adhesives Texas, a US-based supplier of hot-melt adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesive tapes to the residential construction industry.
